Okay, I had the SUN T2000 (16 virtual cpus, 8Gbyte of RAM) here for several days now, but my job and some other little annoyances didn't really allow me to test it. Today I finally did it (again ;-)). The setup went pretty smooth and I was testing some CommonLisp things. Yes, your eyes didn't fail you - CommonLisp!

I report more on the results soon, but first - as I'm a Mac addict and want to keep the tradition - here's the unpacking gallery of the T2000 (made with iWeb - I had to try it out).

My first Common Lisp Project - Form input validation for Webactions

It basically adds a convienient way (at least I hope so) to define HTML-form input validation rules in your Webactions project.

You can find the LISP sources (tested and developed using AllegroCL 8.0) here...

So, how does it work?

The first thing you need to do is to define your Webactions project.

Example:

Than you need to define the form which you want to use for the check-form function (look at the "do-registration" destination defined above).

Okay, that takes care of the form and the validation rules. As you can see, you're not limited to the value of a single field for your validation purposes. Using the :depends-onkey you can specify the names of other fields in this form which should be given to your validation function (order matters!).

But how does that helps me with my form-validation needs? Simple! In addtion to the define-form and check-form function you already saw above, there're two new clp-functions which you can use in your templates. So the form definition in the register.clp template might look this way:

Using the form_if-field-error clp-function you can determine whether or not the validation of a certain field failed. form_field-error-message will then display the error message.

Sun T2000 Try-and-Buy

I finally did it... I applied for the Sun T2000 Try-and-Buy program. Why? I'm curious and this blog entry by Jonathan Schwartz finally convinced me to do it.

What will I do with it (if I get it)? I don't know, yet. I probably will run some J2EE things I wrote as part of my job - mostly database centric stuff, with some pretty large XML manipulations thrown in. And I will test some garbage collector related stuff (multiple gc-threads and so on) because at on project I'm working on we pass lots of binary data through the VM which after a while have to be thrown away.

I'm looking forward to test this machine.

Schnell und fast schmerzfrei...

Nachdem ich die letzten beiden Tage schon eifrig alles vorbereitet habe, ist es heute geschehen... Der Scourbase-Server ist umgezogen und läuft jetzt fröhlich und munter auf einer Opteron-Kiste bei Strato.

Ich habe die SSL-Zertifikate des SMTP-, IMAP- und HTTPS-Servers auf Zertifikate von CACert.org umgestellt. Für Mac-Nutzer gibt es hier eine Anleitung, wie man das entsprechende Root-Zertifikat in die X509Anchors-Keychain bekommt.
